You don't have to accept the first answer
ChatGPT works best as a conversation. If the first result isn't quite right, just tell it what to change. This is often faster than rewriting the whole prompt.
Useful follow-up requests
- "Make that shorter."
- "Use a friendlier tone."
- "Remove the sales language."
- "Give me three alternatives."
- "Explain that in simpler language."
- "Ask me questions before you rewrite it."
Example
First result: A formal, 200-word email that sounds too salesy.
You: "Make it shorter, friendlier, and remove anything that sounds like a sales pitch."
Result: A concise, warm email you're happy to send.
Try it now (3 minutes)
Take any result you've generated so far. Try asking for three different versions: "Give me three alternatives — one formal, one friendly, and one very short." You'll often find one that's exactly what you needed.
Follow-up requests only work within the same conversation. If you start a new chat, ChatGPT won't remember what you were working on.
